Originally referred to me by a friend, Darwyn Chang proved an outstanding asset. Effortless to work with, Darwyn kept in touch over following days as we plotted out her role. Her performance set the pace throughout - enveloping guests into the space as they arrived, rising in volume to signal the start of dinner, signalling the time for toasts, and underlaying a soft accompaniment to the toasts. Clearly a musician of deep technical ability and versatility, and one who is willing and capable of executing most anything asked of her, she also possess a graceful keyboard style that weaves seamlessly into the event. She was punctual, her outfit and appearance continental elegant, her interaction with our guests engaging and personable – a human element my wife particularly noted and appreciated.

Darwyn arrived early, warmed up with headphones, and when guests started to arrived, unplugged and went live. The impact on the room was instantly palatable, the entire setting transformed to a degree even I didn’t anticipate.

My objective in this and other aspects of the party was to charm our guests, and do so in such a manner that people sensed and appreciated the experience, but didn’t sense the how. Ms. Chang delivered.

That Darwyn Chang would be my first choice to hire again is obvious. I’d hire this woman in a heartbeat for any job or role, let alone as a musician. But I go one step further: What excuse can I create, I’m asking, to hire her again.
